I would make sure that mice haven't got into the wiring and make sure the pump or pumps are not frozen up then fill it up and let it circulate a bit then build a fire.

I think natural gas is about half the cost of LP gas in our area.

HVAC guy has not made it back out to put mine in so I guess I will pick up one and do it myself but I was thinking about setting it at 125. My line goes to the water to water ex. first then to the water to air in the heat pump.

If you keep the house heated and the pump running it should not freeze unless the temp went real low

That is one idea, you could use propylene glycol Antifreeze.

I would use some kind of rust inhibitor in it and by draining it you would need to add it every time you filled it.
