Aquastat setting

Post by Yotehunter66 » Mon Dec 04, 2017 8:14 am

What do you guys that use an aquastat on the supply line to your water to air exchanger set it at? Mines at 100. Seems a little low to me if you want your furnace to supplement your heat.

HVAC guy has not made it back out to put mine in so I guess I will pick up one and do it myself but I was thinking about setting it at 125. My line goes to the water to water ex. first then to the water to air in the heat pump.

Same set up here. Mine was set at about 90 or 95. I think that is a little to low. I'd like it to allow my furnace to assist in heating and not allow the water temp to get that low in the furnance. I finally got them to run a natural gas line to our house. I won't mind paying a little more for heat now that I'm off propane.

I think natural gas is about half the cost of LP gas in our area.

If you want to burn some gas too then I would turn the aquastat up to at least 140 and see what it does. You may be able to go even higher depending on what temps the OWB runs at and how much gas you want to burn.
Also, depending on what type of pipe you have the aquastat strapped on, it may be off on the temp it is sensing. You would need to compensate the setting for that.
